West Grey is awarding an over $2.8 million contract to provide the new Rockwood Terrace Long Term Care facility with a storm sewer outlet.
Council approved awarding the tender to Moorefield Excavating for the construction of South Street during its meeting on Tuesday.
This comes as the new Rockwood Terrace Long-Term Care facility is being redeveloped and addresses a flooding issue in Durham.
The scope of the project includes replacing and upgrading an undersized storm sewer which is too flat.
Construction will be split into two phases, the first this year will stretch from Garafraxa Street to Countess Street, while next year’s construction will be from Elgin Street to Garafraxa Street.
The cost of the project is being split between West Grey and Grey County. The municipality’s share for the first phase of construction totals nearly $950,000, while the cost for the second phase in 2026 will be over $736,000.
