The first phase of work is wrapping up on Port Elgin’s Goderich Street.
It had been closed in a section of the downtown since early April for road and underground infrastructure work.
A post from the Town says “Crews are finishing clean up and the street is expected to reopen later this evening.”
They note Goderich Street through downtown Port Elgin will stay open for the Victoria Day long weekend.
Phase two of the work will involve underground infrastructure work and interlocking brick replacement at the intersections of Mill Street and Elgin Street, as well as new asphalt between Market Street and Emma Street. It’s due to start after the long weekend and take four to five weeks, wrapping up by June 27th.
Phase three which involves underground infrastructure work from Ivings Drive to Concession 6 is underway now.
Phases three to five also won’t require full road closures, according to the Town.
Phase four will include new asphalt from Emma Street to Concession 6 and is estimated to take two weeks.
All the work is expected to be done by August 1.
Ridge Street (from Bruce Road 25) is temporarily open to provide an alternative route to the south end of Port Elgin.
