The Well Community Collective is receiving a $1 million donation in support of its new program the region.
The donation from Bruce Power will support the new youth wellness collective’s goal of providing mental health and well-being for youth between the ages of 12 and 25 in Grey, Bruce, Huron, and Perth counties.
This comes after the collective recently announced its flagship initiative, the creation of Youth Hubs, which are focused on providing a safe, supportive and stigma-free environment for youth to access care and connect with their peers.
It also provides a variety of supports addressing substance use, primary care, education, employment, housing, and wellness.
The donation is supporting the collective’s goal of raising $6 million to fund these Youth Hubs in Kincardine and Owen Sound, with plans to expand to other centres in the region.
Executive Director of the Well Community Collective Shannon McGavin says, “We want our youth to be successful and optimistic for the future and this donation will go a long way to help provide the supports needed to make that happen.”
