Public Health received a confirmed case of measles and believes that individuals may have been exposed between April 18th to 23rd.

- April 19, 2025, 12 – 4 a.m., Danny’s Hotel, Hanover;
- April 19, 2025, 11 p.m. – 2 a.m., The Alley, Hanover;

- April 23, 2025, 2 – 4:15 p.m., Shoppers Drug Mart, Hanover.
Grey Bruce Public Health says that the number of exposure locations shows the importance of isolating at home if experiencing measles symptoms.
Anyone who was at those locations during those times should confirm their vaccination status. Those born before 1970 are considered to be immune to measles. Two doses of measles-containing vaccine are recommended for anyone born after 1970. If you’re unsure of your vaccination status, you can check through your healthcare provider or through ICON.
Measles symptoms start 7-21 days after exposure, and can include high fever, cough, runny nose, sore eyes, and sensitivity to light. Between 3-7 days after exposure, a blotchy red rash appears starting on the face and body, then spreading to the arms and legs.
If not protected from the measles, you can receive post-exposure treatment from either your healthcare provider or Grey Bruce Public Health if it’s been six days or less since exposure, or to receive a vaccine to provide lifelong protection.
Anyone who experiences measles symptoms should isolate at home. Household members who are not immune should also stay home during the same period of time.
If you need medical care, you should contact your healthcare facility ahead of time before arriving in person.
Measles is an airborne illness that can live in the air and on surfaces for up to two hours. People with measles can be infectious from four days before to four days after a rash begins.
