The Green Party’s candidate for Huron-Bruce is including responding to the American tariffs as one of his priorities.
Gregory J McLean says he is stepping into the role after being attracted to the Green’s policies.
“Being progressive and certainly working towards making Canada a greener place, but also a fairer place for all Canadians,” says McLean.
McLean is representing the riding after the Green’s did not have a candidate for Huron-Bruce in the last federal election.
His priorities this election include responding to the tariffs imposed by the American President’s administration.
“Its got ramifications federally, for federal decision making, but people are worried about how to protect ourselves, how to diversify ourselves in the face of these of these tariff threats,” says McLean. “I want to make sure that we have access to all of our Canadian markets and knock down any provincial trade barriers.”
McLean is also prioritizing affordable housing and healthcare.
“They don’t seem to be making the news as much as the tariff thing, but they are there, they were there before, they will be there after,” says McLean. “There is not enough housing and from a supply and demand basic economics, the more places that you have, that should put pressure to bring prices down, and not just that, we need affordable housing that actually exists for what people make and I think the federal government hasn’t really done much.”
He adds representatives of the Green Party will always vote in line with the desires of their constituents.
