There are some new four-way stop intersections in Port Elgin.
They’re temporarily in place while road work has closed a portion of Goderich Street downtown.
There’s a new four-way stop at Waterloo and Mill street, one at Bricker and Mill Street, and one at Bricker Street and Catherine Street.
Police say to be aware of the new stops, or you may be ticketed.
It’s the first phase of work on Goderich Street (Hwy 21) and it includes underground infrastructure work and interlocking brick replacement at the intersections of Gustavus Street and Green Street. This phase is expected to be done by the Victoria Day long weekend.
Phase two will involve underground infrastructure work and interlocking brick replacement at the intersections of Mill Street and Elgin Street, as well as new asphalt between Market Street and Emma Street. Phase two is expected to be done by June 27th.
Sections of Goderich Street will be closed during these first two phases of work, then it will have alternating lane closures. Estimated completion for that is August 1st.
