An Owen Sound judge has sentenced a Shelburne man to life without parole for 25 years in the death of his girlfriend.
Wazhir Gafoor was convicted by a jury Wednesday of first degree murder in the 2021 death of 36 year old Christina Yadram of Toronto, with whom he was having an extramarital affair.
In October 2021 Grey Bruce OPP located Yadram’s body in a wooded area in Northern Bruce Peninsula.
The following day, OPP arrested and charged 32-year-old Wazhir Gafoor of Shelburne with first degree murder.
According to reporting by the Owen Sound Sun Times, Gafoor lured Yadram, who was pregnant with their son into a rental van by telling her they were going on a Thanksgiving weekend vacation.
He gagged her, bound her hands and feet and then attempted to perform the abortion of their child in the van. Yadram died from suffocation as a result of the abuse she suffered. She had a broken nose and sternum, 11 fractured ribs and neck injuries.
Yadram was also the mother of three girls including one with Gafoor.
