A report of a theft from the Thornbury LCBO turned into a flight from police situation this past Sunday.
OPP say Collingwood and The Blue Mountains OPP were dispatched to a theft in progress at the liquor store that afternoon.
Police say two men took about $800 in high value scotch and left without paying.
Police spotted them soon after in Collingwood and when they tried to pull them over, the men reportedly drove off at a high speed, blowing through a number of intersections as more police units converged on them.
Officers eventually found their vehicle in a ski lodge parking lot.
They say a search, with the public’s help located both men, one of the men in the ski lodge bathroom.
Police say the Mitsubishi RVR they were driving had been stolen out of Brampton just days before. Officers recovered a stolen licence plate, a small quantity of drugs believed to be meth and the stolen the bottles of scotch.
Further into the investigation, OPP say one of the men had provided a false name to police, and both of them were connected to other criminal investigations throughout the region.
A 25-year-old Toronto man and a 26-year-old Brampton man face a number of charges.
