The City of Owen Sound is going back to overnight downtown snow removal after trying out daytime removal.
The City says in a statement, “In response to heightened safety concerns, the City of Owen Sound is altering its strategy for excess snow removal in the downtown River District to nighttime operations.”
The City had begun daytime snow removal operations, planning to implement rolling road closures block by block, but they say the potential disruption and conflict between active pedestrian use and snow removal work were too much of a safety and accessibility concern.
They say a closure in the River District scheduled for Thursday morning has been cancelled.
The City says, “Beginning in the late evening of Sunday, March 2, residents are reminded to remove vehicles from downtown streets to avoid service disruptions.”
