Council has approved a rent increase for one of the affordable housing properties in the county to keep up with market demands.
The rent at 173 Strang Court for its one-bedroom apartments was initially set at $650 per month.
For 2025, tenants who agreed to lease were paying a rate of $708.38 for their unit.
Council approved at Wednesday’s meeting that new tenants would be agreeing to $1,000 per month based on market pricing, but those tenants would still be able to apply for appropriate subsidies if needed.
The new rate would not affect existing residents, only new leases signed.
