Northern Bruce Peninsula is going to consider making some parking by-law adjustments following a recent community survey.
The changes include amending the municipal parking season to run from May 15 to Sept. 15, designate the middle parking spaces at the Tobermory Community Centre as 30-minute parking, and a reservation system be implemented at the Dyers Bay parking lot and at the Borchart Road and Carter Road parking lots as a one season pilot.
Council is also set to provide direction for the implementation of a reservation system at the Big Tub parking lot.
Additionally, a report from CAO Peggy Van Mierlo-West recommends the construction of additional parking at Big Tub be put on hold until further discussion and more input from residents.
These adjustments come after the municipality launched a survey to gauge community perspectives on proposed changes affecting the parking by-law, with over 60 providing their thoughts.
The survey touched on seasonal parking adjustments to parking enforcement, the introduction of reservation systems, and changes to parking designations.
“These changes aim to streamline traffic flow and improve parking efficiency in high-traffic areas during peak tourism months and overall were accepted by respondents,” says Van Mierlo-West.
Council will consider these changes during its meeting on Feb. 24 at 1 p.m.
