Well, a big dump of snow is on the ground in Bruce and Grey counties this morning and more is on the way.
As of 6:30 a.m. Thursday, a winter storm warning continues for Owen Sound and northern Grey County, and snowfall warnings for the rest of the region … but Environment Canada says the heavier stuff should taper off to flurries early on today.
But there’s also a snow squall watch for squalls late this evening. Forecasters are calling for about five centimetres throughout the day, and then another 10-20 centimetres of snow tonight.
Blowing snow is also expected throughout the region, making for challenging driving conditions on highways and county roads today.
“Winds from the northwest or west gusting to near 60 km/h will develop this morning and persist into tonight. These winds, combined with the freshly fallen snow, will produce near zero visibility at times in blowing snow. In addition, given existing snow banks these winds will lead to the development of snow drifts onto roadways which will impact travel. “Environment Canada says in an advisory. “Winds will gradually weaken through Friday morning.”
All school buses in Bruce and Grey counties have been cancelled today.
And some business and service cancellations are coming in as well.
