Northern Bruce Peninsula is going to consider approving funding to upgrade its 22 parking meters across the municipality.
This comes as Precise ParkLink has advised the municipality that Rogers will be cancelling its 3G network this summer, rendering the current meters obsolete after losing the network.
The company has presented council with options for new parking machines, which would both extend the life of the parking machines by switching to a 4G network, and provide new features like tap payments and online fee renewal.
Acting Chief Bylaw Officer Curtis Bekking says the new parking meters can be installed by Precise ParkLink before the start of the 2025 parking season.
The projected cost of the upgrade is over $72,000.
Council will consider approving the funding for the upgrades during its meeting on Feb. 10 at 1 p.m.
