Meaford is looking into the possibility of installing a footbridge at Beautiful Joe Park.
Council approved a motion from Coun. Steven Bartley during a meeting on Feb. 10, which directed staff to conduct a feasibility study and bring a report back to council for the proposed footbridge.
The motion from Bartley, who was absent during the meeting, says Beautiful Joe Park promotes outdoor recreation, historical appreciation and local tourism. It adds accessibility to the park could be significantly enhanced by the construction of a footbridge.
The report will include a cost analysis of construction, maintenance and needed upgrades, as well as address accessibility, and funding.
Coun. Harley Greenfield says a community group has been raising funds to purchase a footbridge for the park over the last number of years.
The footbridge would be municipally owned.
