
Gage Heyes scored a hat trick as the Kingston Frontenacs rode a quick start to a 4-2 win over the Owen Sound Attack in Ontario Hockey League action at the Harry Lumley Bayshore Community Centre Sunday afternoon.
Emil Pieniniemi also scored for Kingston (30-14-5-2).
Landen Hookey and Tristan Delisle had the goals for the Attack (17-28-3-3), which had its five-game point streak on home ice come to an end.
Kingston scored twice in the first minute and 27 seconds of the game, and took a 3-0 lead to the locker room after the first period.
Then the Attack pushed back in the second with a pair of goals, but that was as close as they would get.
Heyes completed his hat trick with an empty-netter in the final minute.
Charlie Schenkel made 17 saves in the win, while Carter George stopped 34 taking the loss.
Kingston outshot Owen Sound 38-19 while going 0 for 3 on the power play; the Attack finished 1 for 3.
Next up for the Attack is back-to-back home games Friday and Saturday against the Erie Otters. Both games at the Bayshore start at 7 p.m.
