Owen Sound is taking nominations for this year’s Arts, Culture and Volunteers Awards to recognize those who make significant contributions in the community.
The city says the nominations for the annual awards opens this Friday.
The Arts and Culture Awards honours local artistic achievements which contribute to the area’s creative landscape and historical preservation.
The artistic award categories include:
-Outstanding Group
-Outstanding Individual
-Outstanding Event
-Most Promising New Event
-Emerging Artist
-Cultural Catalyst
-Cultural Heritage
-Lifetime Achievement
The arts and culture nominations can be completed online here before they close March 15.
The volunteer awards, meanwhile, celebrate volunteers who help make a difference in the community by giving their time and expertise.
Nominees can be from all walks of life, ages, and all stages.
“They play a vital contribution to the vibrancy, diversity, and strength of our community,” says the city in a release.
The volunteer categories include:
-Youth Volunteer of the Year
-Volunteer of the Year
-Senior of the year.
The volunteer award nominations can be completed online here before they close on March 13.
The Owen Sound Community Services Committee will choose the winners who will receive their awards at the Harry Lumley Bayshore Community Centre on April 24 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
