Grey Highlands Fire Chief Marty Wellwood says no one was injured in a garage fire on Lake Eugenia Friday night.
Wellwood says about 30 firefighters responded to the blaze just before 7 p.m. and were on the scene until about 3 a.m.
The structure has been deemed a total loss and the cause is under investigation.
Wellwood estimates the damage at $1 million.
“There was challenges with establishing water supply just due to snow and ice around the area so a lot of our normal water supply was frozen. As the night wore on, things started to freeze up just because of the temperatures, firefighter equipment and trucks started to freeze up, but other than that, everything else went fine,” says Wellwood.
