Saugeen Shores Police say they are investigating a fire and a death in Port Elgin.
They say in a statement Thursday (Feb 6) evening, Saugeen Shores police, in partnership with the Office of the Ontario Fire Marshall, the Office of the Chief Coroner of Ontario and the Saugeen Shores Fire Department are investigating.
Police say at approximately 11:30 a.m police and firefighters were alerted to possible house fire at a residence in Port Elgin.
Emergency Services arrived on scene and confirmed there was a working fire at the residence. Members of the Saugeen Shores Fire Department quickly extinguished the fire.
They say firefighters located a male without vital signs. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police say this investigation is ongoing. They did not specify where in Port Elgin the fire took place.
