Bruce County staff shared an update on the implementation of some recommendations from the Transit Demand and Feasibility Study.
In the report, Commissioner of Community Development Claire Dodds says that the focus was on short-term recommendations, which could be put in place in two years or less.
Working with the Director of Transportation & Environmental Services, staff were able to work on some recommendations that the feasibility study had outlined.
This included starting a Smart Commute program that encouraged carpooling, establishing an information portal on the county’s website, and sharing available services such as the ridesharing program, conventional transit services, and specialized services.
Bruce County also held a meeting with the Ministry of Transportation at this year’s AMO Conference, and will be holding a separate meeting with Grey County staff about the continuation of Grey Route #5.
Staff is also currently looking into grants and government funding to help support transit initiatives.
