Owen Sound is seeing steady foot traffic in the downtown core.
The city says recent analytics presented to the River District Board of Management in September show the vacancy rate of commercial business space in the downtown continues to improve.
“Ongoing efforts and focus on increasing brand recognition, promotion and experience development in the Owen Sound River District have made strides since 2020,” says the city.
Additionally, the city has issued several building permits and eight new businesses have opened in the River District this year.
During the recent Hottest Street Sale, the event saw almost 1,500 people attend the annual event compared to 2023.
The data also shows:
-River District website seeing over 170,300 people visit the site, an increase of 40.64 per cent.
-The River District Facebook page showing a 94.8 per cent increase in page visits.
-The River District Instagram page seeing a 713.6 per cent increase in times visited.
“The three-year River District Action Plan ends in late 2024. The River District Board of Management plans to update this Action Plan to ensure the work continues to align with the goals of the River District businesses, residents, and visitors,” says the city.
