The President of the Owen Sound Agricultural Society says they had a great fall fair over the weekend despite the rainy weather
Kevin Reid says the fair at Victoria Park on Sept. 6 and 7 drew a crowd to their various events.
“The Chicken Show was great, had lots in attendance. Our showdown with the 4-H kids was very well attended on both days and we had a really good crowd Saturday night with the open Beef Show, so we are very happy,” says Reid.
He adds the truck and tractor pulls remained a popular event, with the Demolition Derby bringing people out the Saturday night.
“They love to see the cars crash,” says Reid.
The event also included a local craft competition and quilt show, which Reid says saw an increase in the number of quilts entered.

In addition to celebrating all things agriculture, the event also operates as a fundraiser for the organization. While Reid was not able to say how much was raised, the money will also go to support the repair of the Victoria Park Grandstand which was partially destroyed by a fire earlier this year.
“I think we should be okay. We run the fair to basically do a break even, and anything extra will be going towards the grandstand,” says Reid.
