A 26-year-old Owen Sound man has been charged with impaired driving after a collision this past weekend.
City Police say a van was rear-ended by a car near the intersection of 9th Avenue East and 10th Street East in Owen Sound just before 6 p.m. Saturday evening.
No one was hurt.
“However, the vehicles sustained substantial damage,” Owen Sound Police say in a release.
The car involved in the crash had to be towed from the scene.
Police conducted an investigation and say they believe the driver of the involved car had been consuming alcohol.
“A subsequent roadside screening test produced a failing result,” police say. “The 26-year-old Owen Sound male was arrested and transported to the Owen Sound Police Station where he provided samples of his breath confirming that he was in excess of the legal limit of alcohol in his system to be driving.”
He was charged with impaired operation and careless driving.
