Alliston’s hospital is expanding its Midwifery Program.
Officials with Stevenson Memorial Hospital say they’re also enhancing services in obstetrics with funding provided by the provincial government.
Midwives will now be available to support all obstetrics patients at SMH and the new dedicated midwifery outpatient clinic.
They say it was all made possible thanks to an investment through the Ontario Ministry of Health’s Expanded Midwifery Care Model (EMCM) program.
That program looks to improve access to midwifery services in communities with demonstrated needs.
It’s also working to expand the options for midwife-delivered care to a broader patient population.
