Bruce Power is matching donations to the Canadian Red Cross in support of those affected by the Alberta wildfires.
In partnership with the Red Cross, Chief Operating Officer and Executive Vice-President James Scongack says Bruce Power aims to raise at least $40,000 to support relief efforts.
“Obviously if we exceed that, we will continue to match donations right to the end of the week,” says Scongack. “We really just want to raise as much money as possible to help these communities.”
He says this year has been very challenging for wildfires in Canada.
“It’s really an important time for us as Canadians to come together from across the country and do everything we can,” says Scongack. “We have made a commitment to match all donations dollar for dollar.”
The funds raised will be used to help those impacted in Jasper and other affected areas in Alberta with immediate and ongoing relief. This will include financial assistance, supporting evacuees and the communities hosting them, recovery and resilience efforts, and community preparedness and risk reduction.
The closing date for donations is Aug. 9. Those who would like to donate can visit the Bruce Power website here.
