The United Way of Bruce Grey is hosting a Stuff the Bus event at Staples in Owen Sound.
It’s scheduled to take place between Thursday, August 15th and Saturday, August 17th.
Fundraising Champion Kristy Andre they’ll be taking donations of school supplies, explaining, “It’s an event to help the kids and help the parents and families of these kids release the burden of buying all of these school supplies that they cannot.”
Andre says Staples will have a list of items to purchase, and representatives from the United Way will also be there to answer any questions. “Each backpack is specific to the grade levels,” says Andre, adding, “There’s a fully stocked pencil case, there’s notebooks, rulers, binders, it just depends on how old the student is.”
The United Way said as of July 28th, 1,290 backpacks were already reserved for the upcoming school year. Their goal is to stuff 2,500 this year.
Andre says, “We’re really grateful to the community for allowing us to do this program because it’s super important.”
