A total of 17 girls’ field lacrosse players, along with two coaches and two managers, from the Owen Sound North Stars program will take part in the Ontario Summer Games this week in London.
The participating players include Ella McCoubrey, Leah Cooper, Ella Todd, and Lauren Neil (Team Yellow), Camryn Stauffer, Hannah Davies, Willow Smith-Spinney (Team Blue) London Doyle and Katie Marshall (Team Purple), Camryn Laycock and Megan Nissen (Team Red), Mykah Harris (Team Pink), and Bree Wilkins, Taryn Weppler, Mya Good, Ainsley Smith and Grace Smyth (Team Green).
North Stars alumni Reese Wilkins (Team Blue) and Lauren Radbourne (Team Green) are coaches at the event while Kelly Wilkins and Richard Harris are managers. Owen Sound JEWL coach Lyndsay Brooks is the field lacrosse event coordinator.
The North Stars attended an open tryout in May for all under-15 and under-17 players in the province, after which the top 96 athletes were chosen and assigned to teams based on a coaches draft.
The Ontario Summer Games run from August 1st – 4th in London.
