If you’ve noticed the tennis courts at Owen Sound District Secondary School all torn up, no need to worry about their future: a major revamp is being completed this summer.
Bluewater District School Board Communications Officer Jamie Pettit says the four courts are being resurfaced, pickleball lines added and basketball nets will also be installed to make it into a multi-purpose area.
He says the transformation of the tennis courts is just one part of a $3-million summer renewal project happening at Owen Sound District Secondary School.
Outside, there’s also resurfacing being done to the parking lot, some tree removal and paving in the main courtyard and an unused portable being taken out.
Inside, the public high school’s weight room is being relocated and refreshed, a set of change rooms are being updated and having single-use showers installed and the football team room is also getting some improvements.
There’s also some mill work being done — and gas and water services added — in three of the school’s science rooms.
“Quite a few different projects on the go that will be ready in time for the return to school in September,” Pettit says.
Pettit adds the renovations at OSDSS are part of $17-million in investments over the summer at Bluewater District School Board facilities.
