Meaford is seeing a slight uptick in building activity for the second quarter compared to last year.
Council reviewed the number of permits the municipality issued over the last three months during a meeting on July 22.
The update shows 89 permits were issued compared to the 82 during the second quarter in 2023.
The permits issued include 31 for new homes, 18 for residential townhomes for the Loon Call Subdivision, one multi-residential, and seven for agriculture.
Coun. Harley Greenfield says, “really hoping by the end of the year there are a lot more new houses other than Loon Call.”
Construction value for this quarter also shot up to just over $34 million, compared to the $18.2 million in 2023.
