Owen Sound Police is reminding people in the city to lock their vehicles after responding to several complaints of theft.
Police say over the past few days, an investigation into these thefts have led to the arrest of six Owen Sound residents, and resulted in 42 criminal offences.
These include:
-Two counts of theft under $5,000 from a vehicle
-13 counts of unauthorized use of a credit card
-12 counts of possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000
-Eight counts of failing to comply with a probation order
-Three counts of failing to comply with a release order
-Two counts of failing to comply with an undertaking
-One count of disguise with intent
-One count of trespassing or prowling at night
“In each of the theft incidents the vehicle doors were left unlocked and valuable items including money, wallets, identification cards, debit cards were left in plain view. The debit cards and credit cards that were stolen were then used at several local business to make unauthorized purchases,” says Owen Sound Police.
