Bruce Power has secured its valve support for the next decade after signing a $50 million alliance agreement with Velan Inc.
Velan is a Canadian company that is a world leader in valves and will provide Bruce Power with both nuclear and non-nuclear valves.
The company will also provide refurbishment and technical services while the company continues its major component replacement that would extend the life of its nuclear power generation site for the next 40 years.
Bruce Power says that the payoff is much higher than the financial cost, and the value of the agreement over the long term is closer to $100 million.
The ongoing Life-Extension Program that is being undertaken by Bruce Power is the largest clean energy initiative and is also one of the largest private-sector infrastructure projects in Canada.
