The Township of Southgate is launching this year’s Communities in Bloom Best Garden Selection campaign.
In August, the town will be participating in the CiB program and looking for feedback on how to enrich its physical appearance, environmental sustainability, green spaces, and heritage conservation.
The town will also be able to showcase community features.
This year, the Township of Southgate was selected to participate in the Best Garden competition, so they’re encouraging residents and business owners to nominate properties in the town to be chosen as the top garden in the community.
Communities in Bloom is a charitable organization that uses an evaluation process to foster community growth and participation to work toward continuous community improvement.
CiB uses volunteer judges to rate communities in five categories: community appearance, environmental action, heritage conservation, tree management, landscape, and plant & floral design. Participating communities are rated on a scale of one to five blooms in given categories.
Southgate will be hosting judges August 7-8th. For more information, you can visit the official Communities in Bloom website
The township has given the following timeline:
– Nomination period: June 28 – July 19
– Judging period: July 22 – 26
– Informing the 12 winners: July 29 – 30
– Lawn signs will be distributed, and photos will be taken August 1 – 2
– Communities in Bloom Judging: August 7 – 8
