The U11 Transcontinental Girls Field Lacrosse had a fantastic victory against Oakville Ladyhawks, with a final score of 13-10.
Clara Patterson, Aubrey Walker and Lexy Bothwell were exceptional on the defensive side demonstrating teamwork and determination which led the ball up to the mid-fielders, Ireland Grimstead, Mila Minard, Harper Thompson, Norah Given and
Sophie Burnett-Scott. The attackers, Heidi Singh, Meyer Quaid and Evelyn Scholl were able to clear space to allow goals scored by Mila Minard (10), Sophie Burnett-Scott, Meyer Quaid and Clara Patterson. Isla Nickel had a remarkable performance in net.
After the game, the girls had an opportunity to watch the U22 Team Canada practice, specifically Owen Sound’s own Jillian Goldie! The girls got high fives from the players and headed off to their next game
The girls faced a tough challenge against the hometown team, Burlington Blaze and unfortunately lost with a score of 17-6. Goals from Harper Thompson, Sophie Burnett Scott and Mila Minard (4)
Despite the loss, the team played with great spirit and resilience. We are proud of our team’s hard work and dedication, and we look forward to bouncing back in St Catherine’s on June 23.
