Two Brockton residents are now facing drug-related charges following a traffic stop in Hanover.
Police stopped a vehicle on 10th Street Monday evening. Both the female driver and male passenger were wanted on outstanding warrants. The driver initially resisted arrest but was then subdued by officers.
A search of the vehicle resulted in Hanover officers finding a sawed-off .22 caliber rifle, a quantity of methamphetamine with a street value estimated at $4,800, and other drugs including cannabis hash, psilocybin, Percocet pills, and evidence of drug trafficking.
Police also found lockpicking sets.
The pair were jointly charged with offenses such as possession with the purpose of trafficking, careless use of a firearm, and unauthorized possession of a prohibited firearm. The female driver was also charged with resisting a peace officer, while the male passenger was charged with possession of property obtained by crime and a breach of probation.
When Hanover Police reached out to South Bruce OPP, the Street Crime Unit executed a search warrant at a Walkerton residence and found evidence, as well as items that were suspected to be stolen.
The accused are expected to appear for a bail hearing on Friday, June 7th.
