Owen Sound Police have arrested a man after responding to several break-and-enters over the past few days.
City Police say they were called to a westside business Friday morning to investigate “multiple break and enters.”
Police say they reviewed video of a male suspect “using the cover of darkness” to enter a locked outbuilding, where he nabbed merchandise and a wireless debit machine.
“The male also entered private property that was being stored at the business where he stole various personal items,” Owen Sound Police say in a release.
Police officers also responded to a shoplift in progress Friday at an eastside business. But the male suspect was able to pedal away and escape officers on bicycle.
Saturday, police were called to a westside apartment building after a man had reportedly entered a locked office room and stole cheques and cash, as well as keys to the building.
Police say they discovered the suspect was the same man involved in Friday’s incidents.
Then came the arrest. Owen Sound Police officers spotted the suspect along the east harbour wall yesterday. But the suspect took off on foot behind businesses in the area. He was caught by officers while trying to hop a fence and arrested.
The 34-year-old man was taken into custody and held for a bail hearing.
Owen Sound Police say most of the items reported stolen in the previous incidents were located.
“The male was also determined to be wanted by the Saugeen Shores Police for similar offences,” Owen Sound Police say.
