A 44-year-old West Grey man was arrested and charged after allegedly smashing windows at a drug store in Hanover, and an ATM machine at a bank.
Hanover Police chief Christopher Knoll says on social media the man smashed an ATM at the CIBC on 10th Street in the southern Grey County town overnight, and also damaged the windows at Rexall next door.
Police officers were alerted by a citizen, then quickly responded and arrested the suspect.
“We are still waiting on estimates on the damage that will be in the thousands of dollars,” the Hanover Police Chief says on X. “Thank you to the caller who called police immediately and the quick response of the officers who most likely saved other buildings from being damaged.”
Knoll says the suspect was arrested on two counts of mischief over $5,000.
