Carter George backstopped Team Canada to a Gold Medal at the 2024 IIHF Ice Hockey Under-18 World Championships on Sunday in Finland. George made 31 saves, many of them huge to give his team the chance for the come-from-behind 6-4 win against Team USA. George also showed his puck handling abilities registering an assist on Gavin McKenna’s empty net goal in late in the third period. For his efforts, George was named Team Canada’s Player of the Game for the third time this tournament.
In seven tournament games, George allowed 14 goals on 164 shots finishing with a tournament second best a 2.33 goals against average and .914 save percentage, winning all his games while posting two shutouts. George was a difference maker in the tournament for Team Canada and was recognized for this after the gold medal game, being named the Tournament’s top goaltender and a media all-star.

Carter George was also part of Canada’s team that won gold at the Hlinka Gretzky tournament last summer.
