Hanover Police say a man is facing drug charges after a woman overdosed.
Police say on May 2 at 3:20 p.m., officers responded to several reports of a disturbance in the 200 block of 7th Avenue involving several people.
An investigation found the disturbance came from an earlier incident where a man gave a female acquaintance fentanyl, which police say led her to overdosing.
After she recovered with the aid of friends, police say several people confronted the man, which resulted in a dispute and physical altercation.
As a result, police say a 31-year-old Hanover man was arrested and is facing trafficking fentanyl, possession of fentanyl, and breaking probation.
He was later released from custody on conditions and is set to appear in Walkerton Court.
“Although the female who overdosed on the fentanyl willingly and knowingly smoked the illicit drug, anyone that uses a street drug can never be certain on what they are exactly consuming and the harm it can cause,” says Hanover Police.
