Owen Sound is moving its tourism services to the Tom Thomson Art Gallery.
Typically, visitor services have been offered at the Community Waterfront Heritage Cenetre from the May long weekend until Thanksgiving each year. But now the city is trying something new to help create more opportunities for people to visit the art gallery.
“The TOM has historically been the first point of contact for many visitors to Owen Sound, so this partnership model will serve the public better through extended hours, shared resources, programming both at the gallery and out in the community, and through a combined reach,” says Tom Thomson Art Gallery director and chief curator Aidan Ware. “We are excited to launch on the May long weekend!”
The tourism services pilot at the TOM will start May 17. It will be open seven days a week, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday-Saturday, and 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday. The Tom Thomson Art Gallery will also be open on Sunday during the tourism season.
