Bruce Power is injecting $300,000 in funding to support emergency room availability for its neighbours.
The energy company is giving $100,000 for each of the next three years, with $25,000 going to the municipalities of Saugeen Shores and Kincardine for their ER support programs.
The remaining funding will help the municipalities with physician recruitment and retention.
“Our employees and our communities rely on the Kincardine and Saugeen Shores hospitals and the excellent services provided by the healthcare professionals who staff these facilities,” said Bruce Power Chief Development Officer and Executive Vice-President James Scongack in a media release. “Access to these services is crucial as our communities continue to grow and we’re pleased to continue to partner with local municipalities in helping to keep emergency rooms open and to make sure everyone has access to the health care they require.”
Bruce Power has given almost $2 million in funding to health care over the past five years to hospital foundations in Grey, Bruce, and Huron Counties, as well as donating to hospital redevelopment campaigns and for the purchase of medical equipment.
