Bruce County’s long-term care homes are celebrating successes to start off this year.
During Thursday’s Long-Term Care Committee meeting, a report was shared talking about plan implementations and improvements at the home.
Rebecca de Witte, who is the Clinical Support Manager, says that since updating a pain management strategy, residents at Brucelea Haven are reporting less pain due to better management.
Both Brucelea Haven and Gateway Haven have requested funding for additional learning and equipment for complex wound care and IV therapy, which they’re hoping to receive this month.
Brucelea Haven has also been able to have a clinical placement coordinator for their facility, and 12 of their staff members have been able to complete training that will help them mentor incoming college practicum students, as well as high school co-op students.
At Gateway Haven, the home was able to complete an update of their second-floor servery, which was renovated over the span of four weeks with minimal interruption.
