The 2023 Sunshine List has been released by the province.
The list includes all public sector employees who earned at least $100,000 last year.
Some highlights specific to Grey and Bruce Counties include municipal and county employees, school board members, and directors of municipal services.
For Grey County, the highest-paid person is county CAO Kim Wingrove, who earned almost $234,000 last year. Her Bruce County counterpart, Christine MacDonald, who officially became the county’s chief administrative officer in mid-December, made $170,000.
Between the two counties, Grey County had 107 employees on the list, while Bruce County had 55.
In the health care sector, former President and CEO for Brightshores Health System Gary Sims earned $336,105 before his retirement. His successor, Ann Ford, earned $364,705 with her former employer, the William Osler Health Unit.
The region’s Chief Medical Officer of Health, Dr. Ian Arra made just over $325,000 last year, while former Physician Consultant Dr. Rim Zayed earned $235,000.
For the Bluewater District School Board, Director of Education Lori Wilder made just shy of $257,000 in 2023, while Gary O’Donnell, the director for Bruce Grey Catholic District School Board earned $182,762.
The CEO for YMCA Owen Sound Grey Bruce, Sarah Cowley, made $130,000 last year.
Brightshores Foundation Executive Director Amy McKinnon earned $136,307.
As for police chiefs in the region, the chief for the City of Owen Sound, Craig Ambrose, made $201,413. West Grey’s Robert Martin earned $191,314, and Saugeen Shores Police Chief Kevin Zettel made $190,586.
The highest earners for each municipality were typically CAOs, chief building officials, various department directors, and municipal clerks.
MPP for Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound Rick Byers made $133,217, while Huron-Bruce MPP Lisa Thompson, who is also the Minister for Agriculture, Food, and Rural Affairs earned $165,851.
