Grey Highlands is holding off asking the county to implement a couple of speed limit changes.
Council approved referring requests of changing the speed limits from 50 kilometres an hour to 40 along Grey County Road 4 through Ceylon and Grey County Road 2 in Feversham to staff during a meeting on March 20.
Additionally, council also approved referring asking Grey County to create a community safety zone within the existing 50 kilometre an hour zone on Grey Road 2 in Feversham.
Deputy Mayor Dane Nielsen expressed his issue with bringing these changes to the county now.
“The county reviews its speed bylaw twice a year, so the county wouldn’t be discussing this for a little bit. We could have a pile of roads that we want to discuss. I think the tact of trying to do the one off isn’t going to be effective up at the county. I am thinking a different approach is needed,” says Nielsen.
Coun. Nadia Dubyk also says she has trouble bringing these changes to the county now as they would not be addressed for a while.
She suggested the recommended changes be sent to staff to compile, which will eventually be brought to the county for approval.
Council approved referring the proposed speed limit changes to staff to be compiled.
