The City of Owen Sound is looking to help local small business owners connect with federal grant funding.
The My Main Street program, which is funded by the Federal Economic Development Agency, is accepting applications until the end of this month.
Paul McGrath, the Manager of Community and Business Development says that he’s available to help local businesses get support through the FedDev grant.
“Small businesses… they’re key for our economy, and this is just a great way that we can help take advantage of the federally-funded programs,” says McGrath.
Successful applicants will be awarded a non-repayable grant of up to $20,000.
McGrath says that the money can go toward a number of different things for a small business.
Brick-and-mortar businesses that employ between 1 and 50 staff members can use that funding for external façade improvements, equipment purchases, and inventory or technology upgrades.
More information is available through MyMainStreet.ca.
McGrath says that he’s also available to help local businesses get their applications filed by the deadline. He can be reached by e-mail at pmcgrath@owensound.ca, or by calling 519-376-4440 ext. 1254.
“[The city] is trying to connect people with different funding programs, different opportunities, and different supports. This just happens to be a great one, it’s very time-sensitive though.”
Applications for this grant program are only being accepted by FedDev until March 31st.
