
It was a night to forget for the Owen Sound Attack in Kitchener.
Luke Ellinas, Matthew Sop and Eduard Salé each scored a pair of goals as the Rangers rolled past the Attack 9-2 in Ontario Hockey League action Friday night at the Kitchener Memorial Auditorium.
Carson Rehkopf, Filip Mesar and Luca Romano also scored for the Rangers (41-21-2), which led 3-0 after the first.
The Rangers pressed from the get-go, outshooting the Attack 23-3 in the opening period.
Sam McCue scored both goals for the Attack (28-28-5-3). Owen Sound had a string of back-to-back wins snapped.
Attack defenceman Sam Sedley was given a match penalty and ejected from the game in the second period after a high slash on Sop. Sedley will face an automatic suspension until the league reviews the play and makes a ruling on supplemental discipline.
Jackson Parsons made 26 saves in the win, while Corbin Votary stopped 35 taking the loss. Kitchener outshot the Attack 44-28 while going 4 for 9 on the power play; Owen Sound finished 0 for 4.
Saturday night the Attack host the Soo Greyhounds at the Bayshore.

Guelph lost to Saginaw in overtime Friday night, and the Flint Firebirds also fell in extra time to Sarnia. So, here’s how things shake out five through eight after Friday’s action. Guelph and Erie are tied in fifth with 65 points, the Storm holding a game in hand. The Attack are one point behind them in seventh. The Firebirds are in eighth, just a point behind Owen Sound. Just two points separating fifth to eighth in the Western Conference.
