A section of Highway 35 in the Township of Lake of Bays remains closed due to a substantial washout, resulting in significant damage to the road infrastructure. According to the Ministry of Transportation of Ontario (MTO), the closure is in effect from Birkendale Road to Seabreeze Road.
Additionally, the MTO has implemented traffic control measures at the entrances to the highway at Highway 60 and Highway 117, limiting access to local traffic. The Township advises motorists that, at this time, the only available detour is to proceed around Lake of Bays using Highway 117, Brunel Road, South Portage Road, and Highway 60 to reach their destination.
As of now, the Ministry of Transportation has not specified a timeline for the highway to be reopened. To stay updated on current information about the closure, visit the MTO’s Traveller Information Service at 511on.ca.
