Huron County Council has approved its Budget for 2024.
This year’s budget will include a tax rate increase of 5.54 per cent.
The average tax increase on residential property with a value of $223,000 would be $50.58.
For farm properties, the average increase is $56 in property tax.
Key budget considerations for this year included non-union staff salary increases, which increased by 3% for 2024.
The only grant included within this year’s budget is earmarked for the Huron County Food Bank Distribution Centre, which will receive $66,000.
Overall, the county budget is set at $52,826,607, with infrastructure funding expected to cost $8,507,266.
This $8.5 million is from the Ontario Community Infrastructure Fund (OCIF). Projects that will be funded by that amount include the reconstruction of County Road 83 ($4.2M), County Road 03 culvert replacement and paving ($3.98 m), and rehabilitation for Fitch’s Bridge ($300,000).
