The Kitchener Rangers downed the Owen Sound Attack 5-1 in Ontario Hockey League action Wednesday night at the Harry Lumley Bayshore Community Centre.
Matthew Sop scored twice for Kitchener (39-20-2), which won its third straight. Cameron Reid, Trent Swick and Eduard Salé also had goals.
Ethan Burroughs scored the lone goal for the Attack (26-27-5-3), which lost their fourth in a row and 10th in the last 12 games.
Owen Sound fell to seventh in the Western Conference standings, just two points up on the eighth-place Flint Firebirds (27-29-3-1). Flint also holds a game in hand. The Attack are two points back of fifth-place Guelph (28-25-5-1), and one behind the Erie Otters (28-27-4-1).
Jackson Parsons made 36 saves in the win, while Carter George stopped 39 taking the loss. The Rangers outshot the Attack 44-37 while going 1 for 2 on the power play; Owen Sound finished 0 for 3.
