A 48-year-old man faces several charges after allegedly pulling a knife on a taxi driver in Owen Sound and trying to steal his vehicle.
City police say the incident happened this past Saturday — March 2 — on the upper east side.
Police allege the accused took a knife out after the taxi driver brought him where he’d asked. And then the suspect demanded the driver get out of the vehicle and give him the keys.
But a getaway attempt failed, because the suspect apparently couldn’t get the car in gear. That allowed the taxi driver to get his keys back and call police.
The knife-wielding suspect took off on foot, but was located and arrested by police officers nearby.
The 48-year-old man of no fixed address was charged with assault with a weapon, robbery and other offences.
Police say the taxi driver was unharmed, and the vehicle wasn’t damaged.
