Southern Georgian Bay OPP says that a Christian Island resident is now facing theft-related charges after he was apprehended by a citizen.
Police received a call of someone trying to break into a vehicle on Fox Street in Penetanguishene just after midnight yesterday.
Officers were sent to the area, and shortly afterward, were flagged down by a Peel Street resident saying that they had apprehended a person who was attempting to enter the vehicles on their property.
The 30-year-old man was arrested after a police investigation and charged with two counts of trespassing at night, two counts of possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000, and one count of theft under $5,000 from a motor vehicle.
It was found that the suspect had an outstanding warrant from the Anishinabek Police Service from another incident.
The man was held for a bail hearing and is expected in court at a later date.
