A 49-year-old man arrested in Meaford has been charged for allegedly stealing a sport utility vehicle.
Provincial Police say they were called about a suspicious person early Wednesday morning. Grey Bruce OPP say a resident in the area of Russett Drive and Union Street reported someone had knocked on the door at around 1:30 a.m. and then left.
Police say a description of the person was provided, and then officers patrolled the area to locate him.
“While the police were patrolling for the individual, police located a black Toyota Highlander parked in the same area of the suspicious person and the vehicle was blocking two other vehicles,” Grey Bruce OPP say in a release.
Police say the suspect was located shortly after driving the Toyota Highlander. It turned out the vehicle was stolen sometime earlier that night.
OPP officers pulled the vehicle over and arrested the 49-year-old man of no fixed address. He was charged with theft of motor vehicle, and a couple of other offences.
